Monica Jasis Silberg, CENTRO MUJERES A.C.

MONICA JASIS is a physician with a Masters in Public Health a Post doc in Reproductive Health Policy Research, a specialty in Human Rights and a PhD in Psychological Research. She was trained in Mexico and the U.S. She has worked in women's health research since 1983. Dr. Jasis has worked in the public health system for many years and in the non-profit world since 1988. She has spoken and written widely on issues related to women's health and reproductive rights. In 1994 she co-founded CENTRO MUJERES A.C., the first women's n.g.o. in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico dedicated to advocate for women’s and youth sexual and reproductive rights, with a special focus on those in most disadvantaged conditions such as seasonal migrants. Within Centro Mujeres, the focus of her work is local, national and international advocacy and public policy based on applied research.
